This is a new page dedicated to my other hobby of Radio controlled model car racing or as Sam calls it Knob Twiddling with your mates lol.
Ray from RGS signs first got me into model car racing about 2 years ago, he is a top knob twiddler and has been twiddling his knobs for many years, in fact he used to build and review models for the magazines in years gone by. He asked me one day if I wanted to meet up with him at Snetterton model car track and have a go with some of his models, I went down and had the time of my life smashing up his very large 5th scale F1 Top-Stock car, he also races a truck which is very nice and he is the raining 2009 Champion at Snetterton with his truck. I had my own Top-Stock and truck but decided to sell them last year to help pay for my real F1 car, I still race now and again at East-tracks when Pinky who is Russ Coopers brother lends me his spare Top-Stock, he has built me a 12th scale electric stock car with a Ray painted replica of my Car body so I can go and race at Fordham on the odd Saturday night and get my racing fix. Below are some pictures of mine and Rays model racing days from 2009 and 2010, I will update this page as and when I get anything worth talking about. One last thing is that I won my first ever Top-Stocks race final with Pinkeys spare car last time out the 3rd January, but I think it was more luck than judgement as I normally punch holes in the fence when I fly off the track. LOL.
30 January Ray and I have had quite a lot of Knob Twiddling over the last few days, and at last I am getting used to the new Pinky Stock car, below are some shots of the last few days playing, and the yet to be painted Saloon stock.

We went to Fulbourn again last night with our stock car's and this time I was expecting some real fast fun as Ray had fitted and tuned a new motor for me.Pinkey had also finished the new car so we were in for some fun, to make the night even better 415 Russell Cooper (Pinkeys brother) was coming to play as well, as soon as he saw my car he kicked it over the track barrier so I new then we were in for some fun and games !!!. In the first heat my car seemed to be slow still and about 10 laps in it stopped so I had a good look and we found that it needed a re-set, but again in heat 2 it did the same and seemed to have a mind all of its own. We decided to change the speed controller in the car for the one in the new car, Ray and I were up against the time and we had solder and bits all over the place, but with seconds to spare we did it. To say that the car was faster is an understatement it was like it had the 600 bhp motor out of my real car in it !! all the others were gutted as it now meant that I was an even bigger accident and harder to lap than before. It was great fun now as the car was one of the fastest and much more fun to drive, I had a good race and now need to learn how to get round the corners without hitting the barriers so much as well as the rest of the competitors.

Birthday boy Ray and I went to 2 tracks last week to Knob Twiddle with our small stock cars the first was Pinkys very long and fast track at Fulbourn were we had some fun, it was the first time I have used Rays 357 car with a wheel radio set and it took some time to get used to it and dial it in, then on Saturday night we went back to the smaller track at Fordham where I spent most of the night doubled up in laughter as I kept trying to shunt Pinkey off the track every time he lapped me (which was a lot), i was much happier with the car as Ray had fitted a new motor to it and also got the play out of the front steering, in fact in one heat I came second and managed 77 laps which is a miracle for me, Ray had worse luck as his car ate its speed controller so he was out on the third heat. He said the final was worth watching because of my moves on Pinkey, it was won by World Knob Twiddling Champion Ben Harding, seen below, I think he lapped me about 70 times haha.
Above World Champion Ben Harding preps his car for the final and below Birthday boy 57 year old Ray trys to come up with any excuses so as not to let me have a go with his new saloon stock car haha.
